Hello, and welcome to the blog of the What’s Next in Social Sciences podcast!
We’re sure you’ve all heard of networking. It’s such an overused term that it has almost lost its significance. But we may be at the danger of ignoring a very important skill because we’ve heard it too much and think we know about it. But let’s take a moment here and ask ourselves, do we really know what’s networking and how to do it? Perhaps we, unfortunately, think that it’s not that important or can be done without. Either way, this episode is for all of us — to stop and take a close look at networking, the essential skill that we all need.
Joining us on this episode is Mohammed Sinan Siyech, a Senior Analyst at the International Centre for Political Violence & Terrorism Research (ICPVTR) of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. He is also a PhD Candidate at the Islamic and Middle East Studies Department at the School of Language, Literature and Culture in Edinburgh University.
He talks about the importance of networking in academia and outside, how to approach networking and what not to do.
